Since 2007, Welcome Centre Shelter has been committed to supporting women in transition through our Drop-In Program. Designed to offer transitional support to those leaving the shelter system for permanent housing or those who are street-entrenched and not accessing shelters, the program provides a vital space for:
- Peer-Support and Engagement: Our drop-in program is peer-led, emphasizing the importance of individuals with shared lived experiences guiding the support process. This ensures a supportive environment where women can gather for social and educational connections.
- Social and Educational Connections: We facilitate social justice and health-related programming, creating opportunities for women to connect, learn, and engage in meaningful ways.
- Goal Setting and Client Feedback: The success of the program is rooted in annual goal-setting and continuous client feedback. Through surveys conducted throughout the year, we assess the effectiveness of presenters, activities, information sessions, and opportunities for on-site partnerships with other frontline agencies supporting women.
Our Drop-In Program is a cornerstone of our commitment to providing holistic support and empowering women in their journey toward stability and independence. Drop-In hours are Tuesdays 12:30-2pm and Thursdays 6:30-8pm.
